September 3, 2010 (Pen Men at Work): Paris Hilton is the famous socialite, who enjoys carousing. She has, however, been the victim of belittlement by her detractors. She has managed to stay in the limelight on account of an assortment of reasons, some of them being eccentric, and the others being downright embarrassing.

She had been caught possessing 0.8 grams of the unlawful drug, cocaine, in her handbag on August 27. This happened when the police officers in Las Vegas brought her automobile to a halt and rummaged it. She was accompanied by her beau, Cy Waits. Hilton was indicted on August 31 in Las Vegas with the possession of the unlawful cocaine. Her life certainly is undergoing a troublesome patch. Now, Hilton has become, inevitably, the ‘late at night’ punch line of the week as well. David Letterman, the famous American television anchor and humorist, poked fun at Paris and her latest hardships on ‘The Late Show’ on Wednesday.

Letterman happens to be the personality, who was apprehended cheating on his wife. He definitely does not have any empathy for Hilton. He derided Hilton querying sardonically whether Hilton needed any additional dilemma in her already mortifying life. Letterman ridiculed the assertion of Hilton that she deemed that the cocaine was chewing gum.

Letterman vocalized contemptuously that her boyfriend was also detained and charged with DWI. Letterman mentioned that DWI in this case is an acronym for Driving With An Idiot. He obviously referred to Hilton as an idiot.

This detention represents the third drug-connected stand-off with the judiciary that the heiress has had to experience this summer. During her global holiday recently, Hilton was halted on two occasions by the police on the doubt of marijuana ownership. The accusations against her were discarded subsequent to her detention on July 2 at the World Cup of football in South Africa.

Hilton, if convicted, may have to live in a dungeon for four years.
