Letterman plot New York, Oct 5 (THAINDIAN NEWS) David Letterman tried to salvage his relationship with his wife of 9 months and before marriage, girl friend of 23 years. He profusely apologized to his wife Regina Lasko on Monday’s “Late Show,” saying she had been “horribly hurt by my behavior.”

The late-night host vowed to repair his relationship with his wife, Regina Lasko.

“Let me tell you folks, I got my work cut out for me,” said Letterman, according to an early transcript of the program released by CBS.

It may be recalled that, Letterman was in the middle of an $2 million extortion scandal in which the blackmailer asked him to pay up or risk being exposed with proof, Letterman’s affairs with the women on the show.

Monday’s show was the first Letterman taped since Thursday, when he honestly disclosed that he had had sexual relationships with women who worked for him, and that he had been the victim of an alleged $2 million blackmail threat.

Letterman also apologized to his staff for the situation.

“Inadvertently, I just wasn’t thinking ahead,” Letterman said. “My thanks to the staff for, once again, putting up with something stupid I’ve gotten myself involved in.”

“I think now that he’s gone so public, he needs to go private,” said Andrea Syrtash, author of “How to Survive Your In-Laws.”

“A lot of people are saying he went public to just get over it, and maybe we’ll get over it faster, but that doesn’t mean his family will.”
