Jan 23, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The cause to help the earthquake struck Haiti has brought together many of the big names in tinsel town, but none so much as those from the musical scenario of the United States. The “Hope For Haiti Now” concert had taken place at three venues, hosted by three different personalities. The event, which was broadcast live, had been hosted in Los Angeles, by noted actor George Clooney, New York, hosted by the rapper Wyclef Jean, and also in the disaster struck Haiti itself, which was hosted by CNN personality Anderson Cooper. Among the other performers in the various venues, there were Justin Timberlake, Alicia Keys and Dave Matthews.
Dave Matthews performed a duet with the singer Neil Young. They joined voices to thrill the audience with their rendition of the evergreen song “Alone And Forsaken”, which was originally sung by the legendary Hank Williams. The selection of the song was undoubtedly good, as it really managed to capture the mood of the moment, bringing out the tragedy of the cause.
Dave Matthews’s performance at the “Hope For Haiti Now” concert received mixed reviews from the audience and the critics. For many, the duet with Neil Young was nothing short of spectacular. Many from the audience felt that the timeless classic got a new dimension in the voice of Dave Matthews and Neil Young. On the other hand, many others felt that the singers were not able to do justice to the number, and that particularly, the duet between the two was what actually spoiled the appeal.

This was by FAR the greatest performance in the show- moving, impassioned and just plain awesome, Dave and Neil hit it out of the park. #2, oddly, was BeyoncĂ© Knowles- I’m not really a fan, but she was great and boy, she could sing.
Love Neil though, living legend, just great.
Don’t spook the Horse!
Keep on Rockin’ Neil!!!

Neil and Dave, did hit it out of the park. I can’t believe any official critics of music could not like it. When the cause is for charity, particularly this kind of aide, then the song is more about the performance and less about the performers. This performance was moving.
