Darsheel Safary’s wish - to be a superhero in real life

New Delhi, Jan 25 (IANS) After playing a dyslexic child in “Taare Zameen Par”, Darsheel Safary will be seen as a superhero in his forthcoming film “Zokkomon”, which is about extraordinary powers. The 13-year-old is happy to fulfil his fantasy, but hopes to be granted the powers in real life too.
“I feel great and fortunate to fulfil my fantasy. I wish to help the world if granted these superpowers in real life too,” Darsheel told IANS here.
“‘Zokkomon’ is a completely different movie. The experience was very different as ‘Taare Zameen Par’ was an emotional movie and this is an adventure-action film,” he added.
Directed by debutant Satyajit Bhatkal, “Zokkomon” is a Walt Disney India production and will hit the theatres May 7.
The young actor had to do a lot of homework before going on the sets.
“It used to take me hours to get into the superhero look. I worked hard to get into the character - I had to jump around and fly but it was fun. A special costume was designed for me - it included eye mask, suit, gloves, watch etc. It was heavy. My role is very different and it will surprise the audience.”
At the age of 13, when not many children can manage their daily chores, Darsheel is balancing studies and professional commitments without any fuss.
“After ‘Taare Zameen Par’, I have completed shooting for two movies. I did it all during my vacations. I made it a point that I don’t lose out on my studies - I studied during shooting breaks,” he said.
Apart from “Zokkomon”, the young actor will be seen in director Priyadarshan’s “Bum bum bole”.
“It is about schoolgoing children and basically tries to bring out the relationship of brother and sister. I hope my talent will be appreciated and accepted,” said Darsheel.
Though Darsheel wowed with his first performance, when it comes to selecting a script it is his father who takes the final call.
“My son is very happy with his work and enjoys it completely. He has never complained regarding shoots or the work pressure,” said Darsheel’s mother Sheetal.
“If he decides to take up acting as profession, we are with him. But he still has a few more years to decide,” she added.
