Darren Aronofsky Directed “Black Swan” To Open Venice Film Festival

swanJuly 24, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Actress Natalie Portman is on a high these days. As the hype engulfing her upcoming project, “Black Swan” gradually escalates, it has added a new feather to its cap as the Darren Aronofsky directed flick has been selected to open this year’s Venice Film Festival. The much-anticipated film festival which would be commencing from the month of September this year is recognized as the oldest film fiesta all across the world. The organizers of the event confirmed on Thursday that the upcoming Natalie Portman starer will have its world premiere in the Venice Film Festival.

The forthcoming flick ‘Black Swan” tells the tale of rivalry between two dancers who are part of a competitive New York based ballet company. Apart from Natalie Portman, the psychological thriller also stars Vincent Cassel, Winona Ryder as well in some of the other leading roles. The movie is surely going to be one of the highlights of the Venice Film Festival this year which is scheduled to run from September 1-11 on the scenic island of Lido in Venice.

After it was announced that “Black Swan” would be the first film to be shown in Venice Film Festival this year, an elated Darren Aronofsky issued a statement that read that the cast and crew of the yet-to-be released flick are highly excited and honored with the selection committee’s decision. The director further added that it would indeed be an honor to walk the red carpet in the prestigious film festival and everyone associated with the project are excited to get the opportunity to premiere the flick to the wonderful audience of Venice.
