Danny Veltri walks away with mouthwatering victory!May 15th, 2009 - 10:11 pm ICT by GD
Culinary reality show Hell’s Kitchen ended on a rather savory note, with 23-year old self-confessed redneck from Edgewater, Florida, walking away with the top chef honors, a dishy employment contract and a mouthwatering opportunity to trade-in his by-now-all-too-familiar backwards cap for a chef’s hat crowning him the man with his very own restaurant to run.
The newly coronated king of culinary expertise, was declared by chef Gordon Ramsay at Borgota’s Music Box. Pitted against his formidable and more experienced adversary, Paula Da Silva in one final decisive dinner service, Veltri displayed an efficient calm. Impressive in individual challenges as well as being credited with very few disasters, Veltri reaffirmed chef Ramsay’s professional opinion, that quality and not speed, were the imperative requisites of a good chef.
Leading a staff of erstwhile contestants who were ousted from the competition,Veltri not only landed himself with a victory, but also a cushy job with the Borgota Hotel Casino and Spa, with a whopping $250,000 paycheck. The cherry on the cake of course was the association with Chef Stephen Kalt in their yet-to-be-opened Italian eatery called “Fornelletti.”
After beating out the more experienced cook, Paula DaSilva, Veltri mentioned that he would helm a brand new restaurant in a Atlantic City resort. Danny in his trademark white jacket mentioned that the winning was “the best thing that has ever happened to” to him. The best part about Danny was that he would always top the show and all his preparations were a hit.
Apparently, some people can have their cake and eat it too!!!
