Danny Boyle May Direct The 2012 London Olympics
June 9th, 2010 - 11:27 am ICT by Sampurn WireJune 9, 2010 (Sampurn Wire): It seems that a filmmaker directing the opening ceremony of the Olympics is the latest addition to the traditions related with the biggest sporting event of the world. The splendid opening ceremony of the 2008 Beijing Olympics under the supervision of noted Chinese filmmaker Zhang Yimou, has raised the expectations for the opening ceremony of the 2012 London Olympics.
According to the reports, U.K. has roped in Academy Award filmmaker, Danny Boyle for directing the 2012 London Olympics. As of now there has been no confirmation.
The 53 years old director is currently working on a film which is based on story of mountaineer Aron Ralston. The shoot of this film, 127 Hours, is currently on in Utah.
Boyle first film, crime thriller, Shallow Grave, was released in 1994. The film was a commercial success and Boyle went on to make Trainspotting which was based on a novel by Irvine Welsh. His 2008 film, Slumdog Millionaire, based on the novel Q and A by Vikas Swaroop was highly acclaimed and went on to win eight Oscars including the Academy Award for best director for Boyle.
