dancingstars Los Angeles, Sep 24 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Patrick Swayze got a special tribute when he was honored in an elimination episode of Dancing with the stars.

“He was one of the few people to integrate dance with being an A-list actor,” said Conrad Green, executive producer of Dancing with the stars, “He inspired many people and many of our pros to dance. We want to honor the great moments he’s brought to film by getting our dancers to do their interpretation to some music from his films.”

The show’s pros danced to “She’s Like The Wind,” “Unchained Melody,” and the “Dirty Dancing” song, “Time Of My Life.” The tribute culminates with Tony Dovolani and Cheryl Burke doing the film’s lift scene.

The gracious host of the show, Tom Bergeron called ‘Swayze “a friend of our show,” and reminded us that the actor and dancer had appeared on Season 1 to help out pal John O’Hurley with the lifts. And really, if there was anyone who can be credited with popularizing ballroom dancing, it was Swayze.’

It may be recalled that, Patrick Wayne Swayze was born on August 18, 1952 and he expired on September 14, 2009 due to pancreatic cancer. He was an American actor par excellence, amazing dancer and a singer-lyricist too. His major Hollywood hits include Dirty Dancing, Ghost and as ‘Orry Main’ in the North and South television series. People’s magazine named him as the ‘Sexiest Man Alive’ in 1991.
