June 23, (THAINDIAN NEWS) It seems that Cindy Lauper has her hand full of activities. After the launch of her latest blues album titled “Memphis Blues” in the market on Tuesday, and the multi-city tour that she is scheduled to go for starting on June 25, Cyndi Lauper is all set to pen a Broadway musical along with Harvey Fierstein.
The reports claim that Cindy Lauper’s musical would be based on the British film “Kinky Boots”. The plot of the musical then would tell the story of two men who make boots for the burlesques. However, the inclusion of Cindy Lauper in the musical production seems to be the latest development surrounding the musical that is being produced by Daryl Roth and Hal Luftig.
That the “Kinky Boots” would be developed as a Broadway-aimed musical was announced back in 2008. At that time Jerry Mitchell the Tony Award winning choreographer/director was said to be in charge of directing the musical. Daryl Roth the producer has reportedly said that the story of the musical deals with relationships and that he wants to find the heart of whole relationship. Fans are now anxious to see whether Cindy Lauper is able to get to the core of the relationship.
Apart from the Broadway musical Cindy Lauper released her new album on June 22, Tuesday. The album that is titled “Memphis Blues” and has been recorded by the Downtown Records shows a big change in the style of Cyndi Lauper’s approach to music. “Memphis Blues” contains 12 classic blues that had been recorded in Memphis under the direction of Cyndi Lauper.
For the album Cyndi Lauper has teamed up with legends like B.B. King, Allen Toussaint and Charlie Musselwhite.
