Cyndi Lauper Launches New CD, ‘Memphis Blues’

June 23, 2010 (Pen Men at Work): American pop star Cyndi Lauper, who is also a ‘Broadway’ veteran, has released her new CD, ‘Memphis Blues,’ on June 22. She is in the midst of a multi-city tour to promote the CD and her next stop is at the Mayo Center for the Arts in Morristown, New Jersey on June 25.

Lauper, will be performing on her hit numbers from the new album ‘Memphis Blues’. In the revival of The Threepenny Opera, Lauper starred on Broadway.

The cities in her tour list include Boston on June 26, Chicago on June 30, Orlando on August 1, Miami on August 3, Atlanta on August 6, Dallas on August 11, Las Vegas on August 21 and Los Angeles on August 27.

Mercer Street has produced her latest album ‘Memphis Blues’, which has special guests Allan Toussaint, Charlie Musselwhite, B.B. King, Jonny Lang and Ann Peebles. The tracks of the album are ‘Early in the Morning’, ‘Just Your Fool’ and ‘Rollin and Tumblin’. The Lauper fans can purchase the album from stores as well as online.

The singer-songwriter has released total eleven albums and more than forty singles till now. The ‘Time After Time’, ‘True Colors’ and ‘Girls Just Wanna Have Fun’ are among her hit singles.

With the release of her album ‘She’s So Unusual’, Cyndi started achieving success in the 1980s. Lauper became the first female singer, who had four top-five singles released from one album. The singer sold over 25 million records worldwide till 2008.

As part of their ‘Ladies of the 80’s’ series, the American toy company ‘Mattel’, released a Cyndi Lauper Barbie doll in January 2010.
