Cybill Shepherd’s Son Arrested For Theft

Philadelphia, Jan 16, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Cyrus Zachariah Shepherd-Oppenheim, the son of “Moonlighting” actress Cybill Shepherd and chiropractor Bruce Oppenheim was arrested on January 12 at Philadelphia International Airport for stealing things from his fellow passengers. The 22-year-old was arrested when the United Airlines plane arrived from San Francisco. He is a student of University of Pennsylvania. It is said, he was returning to school after the winter vacation. According to police, witnesses identified Cyrus Zachariah Shepherd Oppenheim as the one who stole cash, a digital camera, travel bag and a leather make-up case from two of the passengers. He was charged with theft and receiving stolen property.
It is said that the actress mother of the 22-year-old had recently attended “An Evening With Women” in Los Angeles that supported gay and lesbian marriage rights. In the last election of California, Proposition 8 was passed which nullified gay and lesbian rights. The actress did not give up fighting for their rights. Which is what brings the incident of her son’s arrest all the more in focus. Since he is the son of a celebrity, the issue will be hyped no doubt.
A lot of today’s youth suffer from Kleptomania, the disease of not being able to restrain from stealing. The goods that they steal not necessarily have high monetary value, but the patients simply cannot control the urge of stealing things. Sometimes they do not even realize that they are stealing. Addiction to drug and its excessive prices often forces the youth of the present generation to take this negative path of acquiring money. It is not known what led this young son of the actress to steal.
