Crypt above Marilyn Monroe’s fails to sell

November 1st, 2009 - 12:48 pm ICT by ANI Tell a Friend -

London, November 01 (ANI): The burial vault above the grave of Marilyn Monroe found no takers in a recent auction.

It is the second time that the bid for the marble crypt at the Westwood Village Memorial Park Cemetery has been unsuccessful.

Elsie Poncher had first tried selling her late husband Richard’s tomb, above the Hollywood actress’ remains in August.

However, there were no buyers for the 4.6m-dollar bid.

Now, organizer of the second auction, Eric Gazin, from AuctionCause.com has said that the latest offer did not fetch any bids, reports BBC News.

He revealed that many people had pre-approved to bid on the crypt but nobody participated in the end.

Elsie reportedly wants to sell the space in order to pay off the mortgage on her Beverly Hills home.

She intends to move the remains of her husband to a neighboring plot once she sells the plot.

Gazin added the family is now “weighing their options”.

Farrah Fawcett and Dean Martin are the other celebrities buried in the same cemetery. (ANI)
