Dec 4, (THAINDIAN NEWS) With the critical reviews doing the rounds of the latest Natalie Portman starrer ‘Black Swan’, it looks like viewers will have to watch the movie themselves before coming to a conclusion. While some have called it a technical masterpiece, some have found the movie lacking in depth and storyline. The film was one of the most anticipated films of the year especially with the reports of the explicit lesbian sex scenes between the lead stars.
Most of the critics have found different inspirations for the film and some have also said that it has jump scares similar to horror flicks. While the dark nature of the film is evident in the trailer itself, it is clear from the reviews that the film manages to grip the audience and prevents them from batting an eyelid during the film. One critic summed up the movie in his review and said that it was a rare occurrence that he could praise the director and the performances by the actors but walk out somewhat unsatisfied with the movie as whole.
The cinematography of the film has been appreciated by the critics and some of the them have also highlighted the sound effects. A critic reiterated that the sound effect create a sense of claustrophobia with the help of the sound bridging technique where the sounds of one scene are carried over to the next. Vincent Cassel’s role has also been called one of the high points of the film and critics have also been all praises for the relationship shown between Nina (played by Natalie Portman) and her mother.
