Cranford, Dame Judi Dench lead Bafta TV award nominations

London, Mar 19 (ANI): BBC drama Cranford and its star Dame Judi Dench led the pack of nominations for the Bafta TV award.

The drama based on the books by Elizabeth Gaskell takes the most nominations with three and Judi Dench racked up a record 24th nomination, including her previous nominations for film, reports the Mirror.

In the best actor category, Andrew Garfield, lauded for his performance in the Channel 4 film Boy A, is up against Tom Hardy for the critically-acclaimed Stuart: A Life Backwards, Matthew Macfadyen for his role as a sex offender in Secret Life, and Antony Sher for the Auschwitz-set Primo.

In the Entertainment Programme category, Britains Got Talent received a nod, along with the three-times-nominated Strictly Come Dancing.

The high-rating reality shows will compete against Have I Got News for You and Harry Hill’s TV Burp.

The oft-nominated Coronation Street was left off this years list of Continuing Drama contenders, with The Bill, EastEnders, Emmerdale, and Holby City competing for the award.
