London, Oct 20 (IANS) Daniel Craig says he had to risk his life for the stunts in the new Bond movie “Quantum of Solace” because fans are expecting something “bigger, faster and more dangerous”.Craig thinks the previous Bond actors didn’t have to work so hard as the secret agent is now seen more as an action man. reports him saying: “How do you impress people when there are couples who go away on weekends and camp out on top of a mountain and jump off? They even film it so they can show their friends. Everything has to be bigger, faster and more dangerous.”

Craig is not complaining about his stunts in the new film, but he says the torture scene in “Casino Royale” was slightly uncomfortable as he was already in pain before shooting the scene.

The actor had to pretend to be in pain as his genitals were being whipped while sitting on a chair. And one lash in particular from actor Mads Mikkelsen’s came too close for comfort.

Craig said: “There was a moment filming it when I did more than wince. I was actually sitting on a fibreglass seat that had been modelled to me to protect me. The rope came crashing in and cracked the fibreglass. I flew across the room. It was too close for comfort as far as I’m concerned. At lease we shot it in one day and got it right. I’m glad we didn’t have to go back and do re-shoots.”

“Quantum Of Solace” is scheduled to hit the screens at the end of this month.
