London, Dec 24 (ANI): The High Court has rejected Boy George’s request to make an appearance on reality show Celebrity Big Brother.

The ex-convict and former Culture Club singer was trying to get the court to quash a ruling passed by the Probation Service that barred him from the Channel 4 programme, which begins early next year, reports the Telegraph.

George, real name George O’Dowd, will be free under licence after serving four months of his 15-month sentence for assaulting and falsely imprisoning 29-year-old rent boy Audun Carlsen.

George, 49, confessed that heroin and other drugs had “got him into trouble” and it was because of the drugs’ influence that he had behaved “in an appalling way” towards Carlsen.

His lawyer Alison MacDonald said the DJ was sorry for what he had done and “wholly deserved” his prison sentence.

And added that he now wanted a chance to rebuild his career and reputation.

However, Richard Clayton QC, representing the Probation Service, said allowing George to appear on the reality show like a celeb and giving him a chance to earn ‘a lucrative sum of money’ could bring down the public’s confidence in the criminal justice system.

Justice Bean dismissed the plea saying he would reveal his reason for it later. (ANI)
