conrad Los Angeles, Aug 24 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Michael Jackson’s personal doctor accused of causing the death of the king of pop will be facing a preliminary trial in January 2011, which will determine whether he will go scot free or face a trial.

It ought to be mentioned that the fifty-seven year old Murray has been accused of giving the late musician an overdose of propofol, a powerful anesthetic that led to his death on June 25 last year. The cardiologist made an appearance yesterday at the L.A Superior Court for a short hearing. The presiding judge Michael Pastor set the date for the hearing to January 4, next year.

Dr. Murray who has already pleaded not guilty to the involuntary manslaughter charges will have some of the evidence about his charges leveled against him during the preliminary hearing by prosecutors of the case. The judges will then make a decision whether the case merits a prosecution trial or not.

The attorneys of the lawyer argued in February, (when he was charged) that he only gave Jackson the correct dosage of the anesthetic, which couldn’t have resulted in his death.

Jackson’s parents, Joe and Katherine, attended the court session. A section of his fans also gathered outside the court and they were heard raining insults at the doctor.
