Coroner: Brittany Murphy’s cause of death might be ‘deferred’

Los Angeles, Dec 21 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Brittany Murphy who died yesterday is having her autopsy today, even though her British screenwriter husband Simon Monjack didn’t want her autopsy to be carried out.
The Los Angeles Chief Coroner Investigator said that Brittany Murphy’s cause of death may be “deferred” for several weeks. Craig R. Harvey, CEO for the Department of Coroner County of Los Angeles, revealed that the autopsy had already begun and that they will need time to determine the results. “I can say that the death appears to be an apparent natural death, the cause or causes remain to be determined,” Harvey says. “The examination is underway at this time and the final cause of death quite possibly may be ‘deferred’ for several weeks as additional tests are performed as part of the process.”
It may be recalled that Brittany Murphy’s husband Simon Monjack has requested that an autopsy of the dead actress not be carried out. But the LA County Coroner’s office said that they would perform an autopsy, reports the Daily Telegraph.
Assistant chief coroner Ed Winter said that Brittany Murphy’s death seemed to be from natural causes and there was no sign of foul play, but police are still investigating all the same.
