Mar 19 (THAINDIAN NEWS) The cause of the death of the former teen star, Corey Haim, is still officially unknown. The L.A.Coroner’s Office released his death certificate on Thursday, but the cause of death was listed as “deferred.” This is because the toxicology report for the final autopsy has not been completed.

While Corey Haim’s mother, Judy has shared that she was personally told that her son died from pulmonary congestion and an enlarged heart, the cause of death has not been officially released as of yet. The 38 year old actor had been experiencing flu symptoms not unlike the 32 year old actress Brittany Murphy just before her untimely death.

Brittany’s widower husband, Simon Monjack, has released his thoughts on the subject, expressing anger at anyone who suggests a similarity, but the fact remains, both of them did have flu like symptoms before they died. Monjack was quick to point out that Corey had lived a life full of drug use, and Brittany had never used drugs. Some reporters felt it should have been clear that the story that they both had flu symptoms does not imply that Brittany did drugs. There were prescription drugs in her body at the time of her death, but no illegal drugs, and no signs of drug abuse.

There were four different prescription medications in the home of Corey Haim, Valium, Vicodin, Soma, and and anti-psychotic Haleperidol. No illegal drugs were found at his home either. It was confirmed that Haim had obtained an illegally written prescription for Oxycontin, but it is not known whether or not he ever got them filled.

It is still unknown whether or not his drug use was the immediate cause of death, though it is likely that the damage done to his body from his past use had weakened him a great deal.
