Contestant’s Wife Found Dead In ‘America’s Got Talent’ Audition Hotel

October 27, 2010 (Sampurn Wire): It has never happened in the last four years in the history of ‘America’s Got Talent’ but last Saturday, the death of a contestant’s wife put a spot on this popular reality show. The audition process for the show was being conducted in Los Angeles at Millennium Biltmore Hotel.
A contestant named Joe Finley was there with his wife to participate in the show. On Saturday morning, the lady named Laura Finley was found dead in the hotel. She was found lying in the stairwell of the hotel at 8.35 am. She was found partially clothed and was estimated to have fallen from the eighth floor.
Joe had reported to hotel security that his 48-year-old wife Laura was missing. He reported the same before leaving for the audition on Saturday morning. The couple had been married since last 26 years. Joe did not found his wife in the room when he opened his eyes in the morning.
The contestant was quoted saying that his wife supposed to get breakfast for them because he was supposed to be in the line for audition. When she did not return, Joe went out for the audition and found she is still missing but he did not take it so seriously.
A spokesperson named Manfred Westphal for Fremantle, the producer of ‘America’s Got Talent’, was quoted saying that they are offering their full cooperation to the authorities for investigation of the case. He added that it was very unfortunate incident and they don’t want to talk much about it at this point of time.
A source was quoted saying that the death was supposed to be accidental but police is still investigating the death.
A man was taken into custody by the officers but got released on a bail of $10,000 on Sunday morning.
