Contest on John Lennon cover song

September 21, 2010 (Sampurn Wire): The late great John Lennon can well be described as a well of inspiration in the whole rock ‘n’ roll world. He had been a part of The Beatles, arguably the biggest band of their ilk. John’s later work was also well appreciated and still today this God among musicians exemplifies a sense of immaculate musical genius.
Billboard.com has decided to hold a contest to mark his 70th birth anniversary on the 9th of October. The contest seeks to find that one person who can truly rock on a Lennon tune. The search is on for the best original performance of a John Lennon or a Beatles song by any fan from around the world.
All a person has to do to enter this contest is to just send a video of him or her playing a Beatles or a Lennon tune solo or with a band. The best of the lot would be announced in a forthcoming issue of the Billboard magazine and at the same time would also be featured on the website of Billboard as a part of the exclusive Birthday package for John Lennon.
A really big package also awaits the winner, including eight classic John Lennon solo albums that have been recently reissued by the record label Capitol/EMI, the particular “Power To The People” collection as well as the new and limited edition of the John Lennon Box Of Vision where all your Lennon music can be kept.
