Ricky Gervais is a rather eminent British comedian, actor, producer and director as well as writer. He has acquired manifold honors such as seven BAFTA Awards, two Emmy Awards, two British Comedy Awards, etc. for his skillful performances.
Ricky Gervais had hosted the recent Golden Globe Awards (GGA) in a rather contentious manner. He is now going to come into sight on TV once again. He is scheduled to emerge as a guest star on the well-liked and much-admired program of NBC, The Office (TO).
Gervais is listed to come into view on the episode of TO on January 27. He will enact the character of David Brent, which is his role in the British edition of TO. Also, it needs to be remembered that the TO was founded on British soil with Gervais as the architect as well as principal character of the series. Gervais has retained the label of executive producer in the American remake.
The filming of the part of Gervais in the upcoming episode purportedly occurred last fall. Numerous pundits and the ordinary viewers have, since a long time, been conjecturing about the interface between Steve Carell’s Michael Scott and David Brent. Gervais has been providing a difficult time to Carell for the triumph of the program in America. Carell will quit the American series subsequent to the finale of this season. Gervais is believed to be a probable candidate for his substitution. However, there has not been any tangible deliberation on this matter.
Meanwhile, Gervais has asserted to Piers Morgan in Morgan’s program on CNN that he did not deem that he had perpetrated any wrongful activity while hosting the recent GGA. There were mixed assessments from the critics for Gervais’ hosting performance at the GGA. President of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA), Phillip Berk, has verbalized that Gervais’ humor at the GGA had crossed the line of decency. Gervais has remarked that he is not apologetic over any of his statements during the ceremony and that he hoped that the listeners had a sense of humor.
