Conan’s ‘Freebird’ performance marks his last Tonight Show as hostJanuary 24th, 2010 - 2:51 am ICT by Aishwarya Bhatt
Los Angeles, Jan 23 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Conan O’Brien bid goodbye to the Tonight Show today, as its host. And the last episode featured a special performance of ‘FreeBird’ with Will Ferell and his pregnant wife Viveca Paulin. Towards the end of the performance, Will Ferell put on a blond wig, whereas his pregnant wife just swayed to the music.
It was quite an appropriate performance, as Conan O’Brien is a freebird now, till September. As per the terms and conditions of his severance package, he can’t work for the TV industry till the 1st of September. Besides this he is also going to pocket close to $40 million, and the Tonight Show is going to now be hosted by Jay Leno. It is quite ironical to say that just 7 months ago, Conan O’Brien had taken over the hosting duties from Jay Leno, and now the circle is complete.
Another special guest on the show was Tom Hanks. Conan reflected on the last 7 months that he spent hosting the Tonight Show. He thanked his fans who had rallied a lot for him when the late-night-programme-shuffle happened on NBC. He thanked them for all the support. And in the end, he also thanked NBC for the times that they had spent together.
