Conan O Brien Apr 12 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Conan O’Brien’s return to late night television will not be on network television, as expected. Instead, the former host of Tonight Show has agreed to start a new show which will air on TBS. It will be a comedy oriented cable show, which will begin airing in November, at eleven pm, sliding George Lopez’s new show to the midnight slot.

The announcement came as quite a shock to the many who thought that Conan was about to move to the FOX network. He had been in negotiations with FOX, and was expected to move to that network in September or January. TBC snuck in quietly to make the deal as the negotiations with FOX kept hitting difficulties.

“In three months I’ve gone from network television to Twitter to performing live in theater, and now I’m headed to basic cable,” O’Brien said in the statement. “My plan is working perfectly. ” He also Tweeted Monday: “The good news: I will be doing a show on TBS starting in November! The bad news: I’ll be playing Rudy on the all new Cosby Show.”

Conan’s live concert tour is set to begin in New York tonight. Steve Koonin, who is the resident of Turner Entertainment Networks, which owns FOX, stated, “For decades, late-night TV has been dominated by broadcast television, now, with a young audience and a growing late-night lineup, TBS is set to be the choice of comedy fans for years to come.”
