“Comedy Central Roast of Joan Rivers” premiered on Sunday, August 9, at 10 p.m. A segment with Joan Rivers couldn’t be far away from nastiness and loud vocal expressions but nevertheless, it’s fun. With her usual brusque manner and exaggerated ways, Rivers always makes for a winning combination for entertainment.

The comic legend has been enjoying a very successful stint at television this year, more so, after her win in the “Celebrity Apprentice” show; but the credit also goes partly to the legendary Rivers herself, for her sheer ability to hold on to her popularity. A commendable feat considering the fact that she has remained in the public scrutiny and glare for a very long period of time.

One thing that Joan has made way off limits for all who take their dig at her on the Comedy Central Roast, is that, any jokes related to her daughter Melissa Rivers is not going to be entertained.

The Emmy award and Grammy nominated Kathy Griffin had been announced to be the Roast Master for the show. In her swings at Rivers, Griffin was unmerciful. A lot of jokes related to plastic surgeries and cosmetics were brought kept the audience in splits and rolling.

While arriving at the Red Carpet ceremony for the Comedy Central Roast, Melissa Rivers had sounded very sure and confident about the abilities of her mother to overcome anything (insults) that was flung at her. Melissa also revealed that she was in talks for being a part of some new shows and spoke about her new book to be out, that is called, ‘Life Lessons From the Red Carpet.”
