Los Angeles, Apr 21, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The president of the Comedy Central on Tuesday announced that its two famous shows “The Daily Show with Jon Stewart” and “The Colbert Report” have been extended and the contracts with hosts Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert have been renewed as well. Comedy Central president Michele Ganeless announced that Jon Stewart will continue hosting “The Daily Show” till June 2013 while Stephen Colbert will continue with “The Colbert Report” till the end of 2012.
Michele Ganeless also announced that with the contract extension, Jon Stewart will continue to hold the position of the executive producer, writer and host of the show. Stephen Colbert too will continue to be the writer, host and executive producer of “The Colbert Report”. Both the shows have remained top draws for the Comedy Central and it seems that the channel is in no mood to meddle with the hosts. Both the shows are telecast at 11 P.M Eastern to midnight block and will remain in that time slot according to reports.
The shows however will probably face a competition from Conan O’Brien who plans to host a late-night show later this year. Conan O’Brien had recently left the NBC which had moved the “The Tonight Show” to a different time slot. NBC brought back Jay Leno to the late night time slot. However, Conan O’Brien now plans to host another show in TBS that promises to compete with Stephen Colbert and Jon Stewart shows. However, for the viewers this comes as good news as they will get to see some more of their favorite shows on Comedy Central.
