Comedians trick Palin with fake Sarkozy phone callNovember 2nd, 2008 - 5:16 am ICT by IANS
Washington, Nov 2 (DPA) Two Canadian comedians tricked US vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin into thinking she was talking to French President Nicolas Sarkozy Saturday.Marc-Antoine Audette and Sebastien Trudel took four days to get Palin on the phone, they told Canadian broadcaster CTV.
“I see you as president one day, too,” the Sarkozy impersonator told Palin.
“Maybe in eight years,” she responded.
The seven-minute conversation also covered topics ranging from politics to hunting with Vice President Dick Cheney.
The prankster said that he could see Belgium from his house - Palin has frequently said that she can see Russia from Alaska.
“Oh my god, seriously, it’s probably the biggest we’ve ever done,” Audette told CTV. The two have a regular show on Montreal radio station CKOI and have made prank calls in the past to golfer Tiger Woods, Microsoft founder and philanthropist Bill Gates, pop star Britney Spears and even Sarkozy.
“Governor Palin received a phone call Saturday from a French Canadian talk show host claiming to be French President Nicholas Sarkozy,” spokeswoman Tracey Schmitt confirmed to Politico.com in an email.
“Governor Palin was mildly amused to learn that she had joined the ranks of heads of state, including President Sarkozy, and other celebrities in being targeted by these pranksters. C’est la vie.”
