Phoenix, Sep 5, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Comedian Robert Schimmel was admitted to hospital last week in a serious condition following his car crash. The comedian passed away on Friday leaving his friends and family in mourning. Robert Schimmel’s manager Lee Kernis confirmed the news to the media. The comedian suffered serious head and internal injuries, his manager said.

The spokesman of the stand up comedian said that he was traveling in Arizona with his 19 year old daughter and 11 year old son. His daughter was driving the car at the time of the accident. The daughter of the comedian while trying to avoid collision with another, steered their car off the road and it rolled onto the side of the freeway. Robert Schimmel’s son was released from the hospital without any injuries. Doctors say that his daughter is expected to make a full recovery. Robert Schimmel, who was well known for his appearances in “The Howard Stern Show” is survived by his five children, his father and sister.

Robert Schimmel’s death shocked his fellow comedians and they expressed their condolence through social networking site. Television host and comedian Jimmy Kimmel wrote in the homepage of his micro blogging site that Robert Schimmel was one of the “nicest guys” in comedy. Penn Fraser Jillette also expressed his shock and sadness saying that Robert Schimmel will surely be missed by everyone. Robert Schimmel’s brother Jeff Schimmel wrote in his social networking site that his brother was a “generous” man and he had always loved and admired him. His brother also added that he was proud to be Robert Schimmel’s “biggest” fan.
