Jean Carroll was born on 6th January, 1911 in Paris, and she died just 5 days short of her 99th birthday. She was a famous Jewish-American comedian during the mid-nineties. She was quite a regular visitor on the ‘Ed Sullivan Show’ and appeared on it more than 20 times. She even had her own show known as the ‘The Jean Carroll Show (Take It From Me). This production included live standup routines by four female Jewish comics juxtaposed with the stories of legendary performers from the 1950s and 1960s, Belle Barth, Pearl Williams and Betty Walker, Totie Fields, and Carroll herself. She was later featured in 2009 in the P.B.S. documentary, Make ‘em Laugh.
