Comedian Jay Leno raises $100,000 for the Gulf coast victims

jay Los Angeles, Aug 23 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Ace comedian Jay Leno held a concert to raise funds for those affected by the oil spill at the Beau Rivage Casino Resort. The concert was called “Stand-Up for the Gulf Coast: A Special Evening with Jay Leno” and it raised $90,336 from ticket sales and the whole amount will be donated to the Gulf Coast Community Foundation. Leno wasn’t satisfied with the amount raised and decided to top it with his own money to make it to $100,000.

Rich Westfall, who is the president of GCFF said Leno was the brain behind the whole concert. He also said Leno exceeded their expectations and they were very appreciative of his efforts.

The comedian said a lot of jokes on stage ranging from terrorists, suicide bombers and even on Sarah Palin, the former Republican vice presidential candidate. The audience of about 1500 enjoyed the jokes and was laughing all the time.

Brandon Sieg, who is a resident of Gulf Breeze, Fla. attended the show with his fiancée Mary Tow because they both are ardent fans of Jay Leno. Sieg said that, “It’s worth it. He’s the king of late night.” Jay Leno also got together with his fans after his performance.
