Dec.04, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Comcast CEO, Brian Roberts, is hopeful that the deal his company has signed with NBC Universal and GE will yield positive results in the near future. The Corporate industry has not seen many such large scale deals among entertainment and TV channels broadcast giants. He is also confident that the company will not get affected by regulatory processes after the deal is finalized.
According to the information available from the Comcast Company spokespersons, the formalities of the deal have been finalized. The companies will operate under a joint venture as per the deal agreements and Comcast will be given the command over NBCU. NBCU is valued at $30 billion and hence Comcast is going to emerge as the biggest entertainment entity in the media sector. NBCU owns some of the most popular TV channels including CNBC, MSNBC, Oxygen, USA Network and bravo. It is also the owner of web based TV channels such as Hulu. It is the second biggest web based TV channel as per the recent surveys. NBCU enjoys the status of having the maximum viewers in the USA under its channel networks.
According to the Comcast CEO, this partnership will prove to be beneficial for the viewers as they are likely to get greater choices and more options than ever before. Roberts had a mission to expand the network of Comcast and pursued it from the time he joined the company. His dream is to change its image and role as a cable provider. However, some industry insiders like Joel Kelsey, Consumers Union policy analyst are skeptical about the success of this deal.
