Colin Firth honoured with Variety’s International Star award

Dubai, Dec 13 (IANS) Renowned British actor Colin Firth has been honoured with the International Star of the Year award by Variety magazine at the 7th edition of Dubai International Film Festival (DIFF) here Monday.”This was my destination in my dreams for many, many, years. Thank you very much,” said Firth, whose “The Kings Speech” opened the eight day fest.
The historical drama, directed by Tom Hooper, focuses on the Duke of York (Firth), a shy man who stammers and who, after going through some unorthodox treatment finally gives a significant speech on BBC radio after succeeding father as King George VI before World War II.
The festival started Dec 12 and the curtains come down on the gala Dec 19.
