Clooney asks British PM to help in kidnapping caseFebruary 4th, 2008 - 3:49 pm ICT by admin
Washington, Feb 4 (ANI): Newly appointed UN Messenger of Peace George Clooney has sought help from British Prime Minister Gordon Brown in the kidnapping case of a wealthy British businessman in Middle East.
Alsadig Abdullah, 26, has been missing inside the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for four months.
The actor got involved in the case following his attempts to promote peace talks in Sudan’s troubled Darfur region.
In his letter, the Oceans 13 star has asked Brown to use his influence in resolving the case.
He wrote: “Whatever transpires it is clearly of interest to all of us with an interest in Darfur and the future of Sudan to facilitate anything that might further peace and stability in that country.
“Our petitions and interventions to the authorities in the UAE will be less effective than even informal ones from you.”
Meanwhile a spokesperson at Brown’s official residence confirmed receiving the letter.
“The prime minister has received the letter. He will get back to George Clooney as soon as possible,” Contactmusic quoted the spokesperson as saying.
