New Delhi, Feb 5 (IANS) Cloning might not be legal at present but if ever it is, then India should clone “a 100,000″ R.K. Pachauris, insists Hollywood star-turned-California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger who is a great admirer of the climate warrior.
Sporting a white shirt, green tie and black suit, the seven-time Mr. Olympia title winner, who has won laurels for his actions against climate change back home, says he is a “great admirer” and a “big fan” of Pachauri, who heads the Nobel prize winning UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change.
“They (Indians) should make it a rule to clone Dr. Pachauri. I did a movie called ‘The 6th Day’ where we cloned people and I myself get cloned (in it). There are so many people I want to clone… One of them is Dr. Pachauri,” Schwarzenegger said in a live video conferencing here Friday night from California.
He was speaking at the inaugural of the three-day World Sustainable Development Summit (DSDS) 2010 in the capital.
“We should have 100,000 Dr. Pachauri’s… I am a big fan of his. Dr. Pachauri has done great work. I am a great admirer of his work. We follow his footsteps. We have met at several environmental conferences,” added the 62-year-old.
During the video-conferencing, Schwarzenegger was in direct conversation with Pachauri and noted TV personality Vikram Chandra at the second edition of the Idea Green Globe Foundation Awards.
Schwarzenegger, who won the 2007 European Voice campaigner of the year award, also apologised for not being present in person at the ceremony.
“I am very sorry I could not be with you (all) today. It’s a very important conference and I’d like to congratulate Dr. Pachauri… This (Green Globe Award ceremony) is a great inspiration to all of us,” he said.
Schwarzenegger also showed a solar-powered lantern (used in rural India) given to him by Pachauri during a visit to California.
An inititiative of Wizcraft International Entertainment Pvt. Ltd, the Green Globe Foundation is partnered by The Energy Resourced Institute (TERI).
