Clarkson goes all-out against record co.

July 30 (IBNS) Kelly Clarkson has locked horn with her record company after rumors of similarity between her heartbreaking ballad “Already Gone, and Beyonce’s equally heart-wrenching “Halo” came to the fore.

Her producer double dipped his backing track, unbeknownst to her, also giving it to Beyonce for ‘Halo.’ Worried that ‘Already Gone’ would sound like a rip-off of Beyonce’s hit, Clarkson tried to keep her track off the radio. On the other hand, the RCA went behind her back and released it.

As for the similarity in sound – since intros for both ballads sound almost identical – Kelly Clarkson does not deny it exists, but she is adamant-“ It’s not because I am a thief,” she says. Quite on the contrary, the singer explains, any similarity can be attributed to her producer, who also happened to work with Beyonce for her latest album.

Clarkson said she confronted her co-writer Ryan Tedder over the phone after she heard ‘Halo’ on the radio and realized the backing track was exactly the same. But it was already too late to make any changes to her record, said Popeater.

“No one’s gonna be sittin’ at home, thinking ‘Man, Ryan Tedder gave Beyonce and Kelly the same track to write to.’ No, they’re just gonna be saying I ripped someone off,” Clarkson told Canada’s CBC radio (via NY Post.)

RCA in turn decided to release the single ‘Almost Gone’ to radio stations as her third single - even though Clarkson fought to keep it from becoming her new single.

Moreover, Kelly did her best to prevent “’Already Gone’ from being released as a single precisely because she did not want to encourage this type of comments (namely, that she’s a thief), but she no longer has a say in the matter.
