Cinematographer Ashok Mehta cremated

Shah Rukh Khan Mumbai, Aug 17 (IANS) The last rites of ace cinematographer Ashok Mehta were performed here Friday afternoon.

Mehta, who passed away Aug 15 following lung cancer, was cremated around 1.30 p.m. at the Municipal Hindu Smashan Bhoomi in Santa Cruz. He was 65.

A bevy of Bollywood celebrities was present to pay their last respect to one of the country’s best cinematographer. Shah Rukh Khan, Priyanka Chopra, Dia Mirza, Shashi Kapoor, Subhash Ghai, Manisha Koirala, Gulshan Grover, Farah Khan, Arshad Warsi, Raza Murad and Govind Nihalani were among others.

Mehta was known for shooting films like “Bandit Queen”, “36 Chowringhee Lane”, “Utsav”, “Ram Lakhan”, “Khalnayak” and M.F. Hausain’s “Gaja Gamini”.
