New Delhi, June 16 (IANS) Bollywood actor Chunky Pandey says he is happy playing second lead in films as he doesn’t have to worry even if the film fails at the box office.
“I know no one will cast me in lead roles now, so I am happy playing the second lead. Moreover, even if the film doesn’t do well at the box-office, I don’t have to worry. There is no pressure on me,” Chunky told IANS on phone from Mumbai.
Chunky made his Bollywood debut in 1987 with “Aag Hi Aag” opposite Neelam. However, he shot to limelight with his role as Munna’s (Anil Kapoor) friend in “Tezaab” in 1988.
He was later seen in films like “Vishwatma”, “Ankhein”, “Yeh Hai Mumbai Meri Jaan”, and “Qayamat-The City Under Threat”.
The actor remained absent from the silver screen for some time and then returned with “Elan” and “D” in 2005. Since then he has appeared in films like “Apna Sapna Money Money”, “Don”, “Sankat City”, “De Dhana Dhan” and “Housefull”.
“I am enjoying this phase of my career as I have been receiving better roles than those offered earlier. I have been receiving naughty roles and I really enjoy playing them. I can no longer be part of love stories. I would cry if I get to do one,” he said.
“I am getting an opportunity to do different things and experiment with my roles a lot,” he added.
The actor, who has so far had a career spanning two decades in Bollywood, admits that there are many people who misguide others in the industry.
“There are many people in the industry who misguide others. My only request is not to listen to anybody’s advice and just follow your heart. One has to be realistic to succeed in the industry,” he said.
After “Housefull”, Chunkey is presently working on two projects “Hello Darling” where he plays a character inspired by Rock-n-Roll star Elvis Presley and the other is titled “Khalbali”.
He also revealed his plans to turn producer by the end of the year. However, he refused to divulge any further details.
