Christopher Lee to receive knighthood
June 14th, 2009 - 3:26 pm ICT by IANSLondon, June 14 (IANS) Legendary British actor Christopher Lee will receive a knighthood as he has been included in Queen Elizabeth II’s Birthday Honours list.
The 87-year-old star, famed for his role as Count Dracula in a string of horror movies, is to become a Sir after he is presented with the honour by the British monarch, reports wenn.com.
Lee is one of Britain’s most prolific actors with roles in 1973 film “The Wicker Man”, 1974 Bond movie “The Man with the Golden Gun”, and more recently in the new “Star Wars” films and the “Lord Of The Rings” trilogy.
Other stars to receive awards include actor Alan Cumming who will be handed an OBE (Order of the British Empire), and singer Joe Brown who is to be made an MBE (Member of the British Empire).
