Christina Aguilera cancels summers tour

May 25, 2010 (Sampurn Wire): The much anticipated tour of pop singer Christina Aguilera which was slated to begin this summer has been cancelled. The tour which was announced just two weeks back was in support of Aguilera’s first album in four years, “Bionic,” which comes out June 8.

The singer is making her acting debut in the musical film Burlesque and according to her spokeswoman the work on the film is has squeezed out rehearsal time for the tour. The film will feature fellow singer Cher along with Twilight star Cam Gigandet, Stanley Tucci, and Kristen Bell.

The statement from her spokeswoman said that Aguilera felt that she needed more time to rehearse the show and with less than a month between the album release and tour date this wasn’t possible. It added that new dates for the show will be announced later this year.

Twenty nine year old Aguilera first came to prominence after her debut album Christina Aguilera, became a huge commercial success. Her second album, Stripped was released after much delay in 2002, but it sold more than 330,000 copies in the first week, peaking at number two on the Billboard 200. Her third album, Back to Basics which released in 2006, included elements of soul, jazz, and blues music, and got positive critical reception.
