Christiane Amanpour Mar 19 (THAINDIAN NEWS) ABC has chosen their replacement for George Stephanopoulos, who moved into Diane Sawyer’s spot on “Good Morning America.” Christiane Amanpour will be leaving CNN to fill the spot left empty by George on ABC’s Sunday morning political news show, “This Week.”

In an email to staff on Thursdays, ABC announced that they has indeed hired Christiane Amanpour. They did not say whether or not the show would undergo any changes in it’s normal routine of being heavy on domestic policies and politics.

Raised in both Britain, and Iran, it is expected that Christiane Amanpour will bring a new perspective to the show. She is known to speak her mind, and has honors in several countries for her work. The president of ABC News, David Westin stated,”“We will continue to provide the best in interviews and analysis about domestic politics and policies. But now we will add to that an international perspective. All of us know how much the international and the domestic have come to affect one another — whether it’s global conflict, terrorism, humanitarian crises, or the economy.”

Although Christiane is best known for her coverage of war on CNN, she feels as though this new challenge will be a great opportunity. She has an interesting insight about it all, “I didn’t know about war until I started covering it. . . . I didn’t know about famine until I was in the middle of one. This is an opportunity to explain domestic politics and how it impacts the world. I’ve always tried to make foreign news less foreign.”
