Christiane Amanpour New York, Mar 19 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Christiane Amanpour has been hired to co-host ABC’s ‘Good Morning America’. Prior to this appointment, she was a well-known news reporter courtesy of CNN, as she was a hard-core news junkie, who even used to provide up to the date news from war zones, since the last 20 years. On ABC, she will fill the shoes of George Stephanopoulos, who had left the show in December 2009.

The 52-year-old hard-nosed reporter is thrilled with the challenge to host a Sunday morning political talk show, and said that, “It’s a once-in-a-lifetime and a unique opportunity.” Earlier she used to complain about the absence of ‘overseas news’ in the American media, and now she is all set to create history as she combines her experience of being a hard nosed reporter, with the challenge of being a host of a show that is primarily based on political discussions.

“Of all the people I know in this business, Christiane knows herself and she knows the news I think it’s a very interesting and wise move for her and I think it will be a very different kind of program. George was the consummate insider, a former White House staffer turned interviewer. Christiane is the exact opposite,” said Frank Sesno, who is a former CNN Washington bureau chief.
