Los Angles, Jan 17 (IANS) Christian Bale took home the Golden Globe for best performance by an actor in a supporting role in a motion picture for boxing biopic “The Fighter”. Directed by David O. Russell and starring Mark Wahlberg and Amy Adams, the movie centres on the life of professional boxer “Irish” Micky Ward (Wahlberg) and his older half-brother Dicky Eklund (Bale).
Bale had to go skinny and lose all weight for the sports movie just like he previously went through the task of losing 63 pounds in 2003 for “The Machinist”.
He researched the part by taking notes on Eklund’s mannerisms and recording conversations for the character’s distinct Boston accent.
