chris-kleinSep 7, (THAINDIAN NEWS) ‘American Pie’ star Chris Klein has pleaded no contest to the DUI charge on Friday. He has already served 96 hours in jail and spent two months in rehabilitation earlier. Reports suggest that the four day sentence was mandatory as this was Chris Klein’s second offense. He was also sentenced to 18 months of alcohol education classes and asked to pay the fines. Apart from this Chris Klein will also be on a 4 year probation period.

This was Chris Klein’s second case of DUI since 2005. He was arrested in June on a freeway and entered rehab voluntarily a few days later. During the sentencing, Chris Klein showed an almost surprising amount of cooperation as he thanked the judge for giving him the opportunity to prove how serious he took the things.

Apart from the sentence Chris Klein has been asked to install an ignition interlock device in his car. The device will detect the level of alcohol in the driver and will not start till the driver is sober. The device is essentially a breath-analyzer that is synced in with the ignition system of the car. Chris Klein’s attorney told the media that Chris Klein took immediate responsibility for his action and was at once willing to take action against the alcohol addiction. He added that Chris Klein deserves credit for stepping up to and taking action against the problem. His blood alcohol level was found to be three times the legal limit of 0.08. In 2005, he was found to have blood alcohol limit of 0.20. He received a 5 year probation and was fined $1800.
