Chris Evans Appears As Captain America On Magazine Cover

October 29, 2010 (Pen Men at Work): The final look of Chris Evans as Captain America has been revealed at last! He is all set to appear on the cover of the Entertainment Weekly’s latest issue. Evans will be starring in the Marvel and Paramount Picture’s film Captain America: The First Avenger’. Evans has also played the role of Johnny Storm in two of the Fantastic Four flicks in 2005 and 2007 respectively. However, he says that he had declined to play the role of Captain America quite a few times.

He reveals to the Entertainment Weekly that he was had been too chicken to play the role. He said the entire reason for trying to get out of the project had been based on fear. But director Joe Johnston’s persistence and explanation of his ambitious plans helped to clear the air. The ‘Wolfman’ director also succeeded in making him sign up for a six picture contract.

Evans was certainly not the only actor being considered though. Others in the fray included Channing Tatum, the G.I. Joe star; John Krasinski famous for his role in ‘The office’ and the “Macgruber” star Ryan Phillippe.

The patriotic hero first made his appearance in 1941 in Timely Comics which was a predecessor of Marvel Comics. Captain America was created by Joe Simon and Jack Kirby and sold almost 210 million copies across 75 countries.

‘Captain America: The First Avenger’ is scheduled to release on July 22nd. Captain America is also expected to be seen in ‘The Avengers’ with ‘Iron Man’ as well as ‘The Incredible Hulk’ and ‘Thor’. Evans will also get an opportunity to star along with Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth and Robert Downey, Jr.
