New York City, Dec 10 (THAINDIAN NEWS) The charismatic anchor of ‘Good Morning America’ Chris Cuomo has said that he is leaving the show and will instead be the new co-host of ‘20/20’. His co-host on ‘20/20’ will be Elizabeth Vargas.
Chris Cuomo was the newsreader on “Good Morning America.” His last day on the show ‘Good Morning America’ will be Friday, which is the same day as co-host Diane Sawyer, who is all set to replace the retiring Charles Gibson on “World News.”
Chris Cuomo’s unexpected news came just hours before the expected announcement that from Monday George Stephanopoulos will be named co-anchor of Good Morning America with Robin Roberts and longtime ABC News correspondent Juju Chang will be named news anchor of the show. “The good news is you never really leave family,” he said, promising to show his “mug” around “Good Morning America” in the future.
It may be recalled that Chris Cuomo joined the Good Morning America family in 2005 and he not only had newsreader duties but he also anchored segments, filled-in as anchor and reported from the field on breaking news stories.
Chris Cuomo is quite upbeat about being the new co-host of “20/20″ because it is “a dream job,” adding, “it was also a very difficult decision, because I am leaving a special place and crew and all of you and you are all part of my family.”

Why George Stephanopolos over Chris Cuomo? George is okay, but Chris is awesome! Big mistake. I appreciated how Chris filled many duties, he is the most likable guy on TV! I looked forward to his smile and attitude, you can tell he really loves his family! George on Sundays was just enough. Bad decision ABC! Today show here I come!
