Chris Brown dropped by Wrigley over Rihanna assault

Washington, August 7 (ANI): R&B star Chris Brown’s deal with chewing gum brand Wrigley has been cut short, as the company has dropped him.
The ‘Kiss Kiss’ hitmaker was signed on to promote the firm’s Doublemint flavour in 2008.
However, the adverts starring him were pulled from air temporarily in February after he was accused of assaulting his then-girlfriend Rihanna.
“Wrigley is concerned by the serious allegations made against Chris Brown. We believe Mr. Brown should be afforded the same due process as any citizen. However, we have made the decision to suspend the current advertising featuring Brown and any related marketing communications until the matter is resolved,” Contactmusic quoted a statement released by the Wrigley bosses.
Brown pleaded guilty to the charges in June as part of a plea deal with prosecutors, following which Wrigley executives have decided to drop the singer from all of their marketing campaigns.
According to TMZ.com, they are “formally terminating” his contract with the brand.
Meanwhile, Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Patricia Schnegg has delayed the judgment on the case involving Brown and Rihanna until 27 August. (ANI)
