Jan.1, (THAINDIAN NEWS) “3 Idiots”, a movie which is supposedly adapted from Chetan Bhagat’s bestseller novel Five Points Someone is doing record business all over India. However, a controversy over credit issue has popped up after the film release and the author himself has taken up his pen to clarify the issue. The author is quite upset as the filmmakers have claimed the story of 3 Idiots to be original. He is also offended with the statement of the makers of “3 Idiots” that the film is just loosely inspired by his novel. The author argues that the film is an adaptation of his novel and far from loosely inspired as claimed by the filmmaker.
Chetan Bhagat has asked the readers of his book to see the movie and he is sure that they will feel similar to him. He has written in his site that he was denied the script of the film even after repeated requests. The film makers kept him out of the promotion from the beginning. However, he is quick to point out that he is not against the film and believes that its success will bring him more popularity. However, when he saw the film for the first time he found it to be heavily adapted from his novel, a fact that the filmmakers denied strongly.
His family noted the fact that his name was not involved in the credit rolling. The author who has a number of bestsellers to his credit has said that the treatment has hurt him. Chetan Bhagat has clarified further that he has nothing against Aamir Khan. He is a fan of the actor and feels that the actor has got nothing to do with the credit issue.
