cherylJan 14, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Her solo career might have got faded with accusations of miming flying high. However, none of these have ever been successful in affecting Cheryl Cole’s place among all her contemporaries. This “Girls Aloud” singer has got nominated for two Brit Awards, also known as the Oscars of Britain. The news was revealed at a glitzy ceremony held in London at the IndigO2 venue. This 27-year-old-singer’s name got shortlisted for two different categories of the Best British Female Artist as well as for Best British Single for delivering her hit record, ‘Parachute.’

Reports are abuzz that the singer got the two nominations after the voting panel extended itself to include music industry executives, other artists as well as journalists. A source from the music industry told the media that getting nominated for such a prestigious award was actually a real big thing for Cheryl Cole. The nomination is also significant in proving that she is more than “just a bubblegum pop star”. Last October, the singer was severely criticized when it was alleged that she duplicated a major part of her performance on ‘The X-Factor.’ Show insiders initially denied but later admitted that the singer had lip-synched almost the entire song. Certainly, these two nominations came as a boon to her at the end of a year, that had been so traumatic for her.

About a year ago, Cheryl Cole was married to Chelsea and England defender Ashley Cole, 30. However, unfortunately, her marriage with the soccer star did not last. The two fell apart after the player was accused of cheating on her.
