Los Angeles, September 21, (THAINDIAN NEWS) According to the sources, the two time Tony Award winner Cherry Jones bagged an Emmy Award on Sunday night for the “best supporting actress” for a drama series. Jones bagged the honor for her critically acclaimed performance as President Allison Taylor in the Fox network hit series “24″. The much coveted win at the Emmys marks another feather to her cap of honor, as the actress had earlier bagged two Tony Awards during her stint at the Broadway.
During the acceptance speech, a seemingly overwhelmed Jones who was quite high on her success thanked her parents Jack and Joan Jones as well her sister Susan for their constant support. Cherry Jones, the actress who had claimed that she is a lesbian, was seen in a joyous mood after receiving the award. But this is not the first time that the actress is being acclaimed or being honored for her role. Jones has done extensive stage work which includes her Tony award winning performance in Lincoln Center’s 1995 production “The Heiress” and John Patrick Shanley’s play “Doubt” which witnessed the actor bagging the Tony Award for “the best actress in a leading role” in the year 2005.
Jones, who is widely known for her association with the theater, has been critically acclaimed in the show biz world for playing the role of President Allison Taylor in the Fox network series “24″. According to the sources, the actress will be reprising the role of the President for the season which will be aired sometime next year.
