Cher says Republican Govt. nearly killed herFebruary 7th, 2009 - 12:52 pm ICT by ANI
Washington, February 7 (ANI): Perhaps no one else can be happier about Barack Obama becoming President of the United States than Grammy- and Oscar-winner Cher, who says that the Republican rule in the country almost killed her.
She expressed great faith in Obamas intelligence and spirit, and insisted that he would be able to do more than anyone could possibly do.
His intelligence is so great and his spirit is so great, I believe he will be able to do as much if not more than anyone could possibly do, CNSNews.com quoted her as saying at the Declare Yourself inaugural ball.
I just think hes totally the right person at this time in our history.
“He brings something more in his spirit than maybe another president could be even with the same intelligence. Theres something about him that brings more with his spirit, and thats what Americans need right now. Republicans almost killed me, she added.
Cher, however, did not specifically explain as to how Republicans killed her.
You know what? I have so I try to be charitable and there are some really good Republicans, but I just dont understand how anyone would want to be a Republican. I just cant figure it. I dont understand, she said while replying to a question.
If youre poor, if youre any kind of minority gay, black, Latino, anything. If youre not a rich I dont know. If youre not a rich born-again-Christian, I dont get it, she added.
Cher also believed that Obama would not immediately end the war in Iraq.
I think as soon as he can. I dont think it will be easy. It would be kind of simplistic to think thats going to happen right away, she said. (ANI)
